           Know Your Colleague
        Pinakin Morawala
Joint General Manager/ Catering Services & Public Relations Officer – West Zone
He holds a 3 year Diploma in Hotel Management & Catering Technology from IHM – Mumbai & PG Diploma in Human Resource Management from Welingkar’s Institute, Mumbai. He began his career with IRCTC in 2007 from Ahmedabad where he was posted as Asst. Manager/ Catering Services. Presently he is posted in Mumbai.
Professional Journey So Far:
He played an important part in exploring new territory of Corporate and Institutional Catering under Non Railway Catering, in 2011, wherein tie-ups were made with leading PSU’s. Apart from this, he has been successfully handling the additional role of a Public Relations Officer. Sh. Pinakin also contributed in successfully launching India’s 2nd Corporate Train – The Tejas Express on the most commercial sector between Ahmedabad & Mumbai in the year 2020. Introduction of the concept of QR Coding of the meals produced and supplied by IRCTC’s base kitchens along with the Mumbai Central Railway station receiving India’s first “Eat Right Station” category from the food regulatory body, FSSAI in 2019 were some of the important contributions made by him as part of the team.
Inspiration
Other than drawing inspiration from his father’s ethics and life principles, he draws inspiration from Mr. Ratan Tata who says, that a single person cannot achieve great things, a great team must be needed to achieve great things.
Family:
He is extremely proud to be son of Mrs. Ramila & Mr. Kantilal Morawala, adores his 2 handsome boys, Palaash & Prakrit and his wife.
What Enthrals you about IRCTC:
The sheer zing and enthusiasm that the culture of IRCTC brings on the table in the face of any challenges and slicing through it like a knife into butter makes every single day worthwhile to be associated with IRCTC.
Leisure Activities:
Re-arranging his fish aquarium, going out for long drives with friends and spending time with parents & family. Occasionally, gives time to stray animals.

Chief Supervisor/Catering/Chennai/South Zone
He hails from small town Gudiyattam in Vellore District where Nation first National flagged hoisted at Red fort after Independence was weaved. He has done B.sc in Hospitality & Hotel Administration at Chennai in 2008 and joined IRCTC through direct campus recruitment. Further, finished MBA Tourism & Hotel Management in 2010.
Professional journey so far
Initially worked at Area office along with erstwhile Railway Deputationists and imbibed the knowledge of Railway Catering which is way different from Hotel operations as in curriculum. Further, explored venues in Tourism with nostalgic Bharat Darshan portfolio & Srilankan Buddhist Train. Due to change in policy wherein mandate of catering was limited for IRCTC had managed flagship NRC project such as Air India Staff Canteen. Due to superannuation of seniors had handled Complaints, Twitter Handle and Mobile catering which was challenging pre-covid and during RTE regime of management of Spl. Trains. Presently looking after Static Units under JGM/ OCS.
Inspiration
My inspiration is my grandfather who during his time had taken effort and was part of drawing the portrait of Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar who lived 2000 years back and whose statue now stands tall at Kanyakumari.
What enthrals you about IRCTC
IRCTC is a right mix of govt and current market practice wherein there is no monotony in work and new avenues are to be explored due to various factors such as change in Top Brass, Policy, Government and company going public etc,.
Leisure Activities
Earlier as an individual there were other leisure activities, now mostly it’s around family especially his little daughter aged 3 years, taking her to park, bike ride, shopping which makes her happy is his leisure activity now.
