 CMD’s Message
Dear Readers,
The editorial team of IRCTC Connect brings the 3rd edition of the in-house newsletter to you full of informative and quality content. The efforts put in by the team in developing and improving the contents of the newsletter with every new edition has been praiseworthy. I am sure that you will find the 3rd edition even more exciting to read as the newsletter covers various interesting topics on diverse topics.
The first quarter of ongoing FY 2022-23 has been the best till date for the company in terms of financial performance. While the company recorded the highest ever turnover of Rs. 852.59 Crores from all its business activities, the standalone profit after tax for the quarter was also the highest ever recorded at Rs. 245.52 Crores. The credit of the stupendous performance of the company in Q1 of FY 2021-22 goes to the entire team of officers and staff of the company whose sincerity and devotion towards work has made this possible. I am sure that we will continue to better the results of Q1 in the forthcoming quarters and financial years as IRCTC expands its business lines in new areas of hospitality, tourism and IT.
As IRCTC celebrated its 23rd Annual Day on 27th September, 2022 which also happens to be the World Tourism Day, the company was honoured with 2 prestigious National Tourism Award by Ministry of Tourism, Govt of India. IRCTC received the one National Tourism Award for the websites and apps developed for Maharajas’ Express and Buddhist Circuit Tourist Train while the company bagged the second National Tourism Award for short promotional film developed for the Buddhist Circuit Special Tourist Train. I congratulate the teams involved in earning this coveted award for IRCTC while there are many more milestones for us to achieve in future.
On the IT business front, the ticket booking through IRCTC’s AI enabled chatbot recorded a substantial increase in Q2 as compared to Q1 with more than 82000 tickets booked by ASK DISHA in end quarter ending September which also substantiates the acceptability of this AI booking tool of IRCTC by the customer fraternity. During this period, IRCTC also designed and launched the new format of the E-Ticket (Electronic Reservation Slip) with better looks and highlighting all the important information with larger fonts making the ERS reader friendly.
IRCTC has achieved significant milestones in its catering business with commissioning of 33 static catering units during Q2 comprising of Food Plazas, Fast Food Units, Refreshment Rooms and Jan Aahar outlets. During the quarter, our company also dedicated its 16th Rail Neer Plant at Simhadri (Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh) with a production capacity of 72000 bottles to the service of the nation.
The newsletter brings you an insight of the activities of the different business of IRCTC during the second quarter of the ongoing financial year besides having special sections of creative writings from staff fraternity and also enlisting their achievements in the company which has enriched its content.
