    IRCTC has set up its 16th Rail Neer Plant with production capacity of 72,000 litres per day at at NTPC premises, Simhadri near Vishakhapattanam (Andhra Pradesh). Rail Neer Plant, Simhadri is a joint project of NTPC Ltd. and IRCTC Ltd. NTPC has developed a flue gas based sea water desalination plant which is an innovative, low carbon intensive desalination system.
This plant is first of its kind in our country. In this facility the waste heat from exit flue gas from power Plant is utilized for desalination of seas water.
Rail Neer - New initiatives
  Salient feature of Rail Neer Plant, Simhadri is as under:
1. MoU signed between IRCTC and NTPC Ltd. – 15 January, 2018.
 This desalinated water is supplied to Rail Neer Plant where it passes through various stages of water treatment and filtration along with mineral addition to manufacturer Rail Neer Packaged Drinking Water. State of the Art fully automatic plant has been set up. There is no manual handling
2. LoA awarded for construction of Rail Neer Plant – 23 June, 2021
3. Date of completion – 22 August, 2022
4. Plant production capacity – 76,000 ltrs/day. 5. Project Cost – 7.77 Crores
   of product from processing of water to final packing.
